It feels like the Love Light Romania family is growing, school has been out for one week and some of the Jacodu children are staying at The Sanctuary and Casa Mariana. Over the next three months summer vacation the children will be able to experience a new life outside of their little community.
Our first week was tinged though with sadness, when on Tuesday 24 year old Nelutu gave up his fight to AIDS and passed away. Have been thinking about how he first came into our lives ten years ago when we opened the Sanctuary, his family were poor and proud and they coped with his illness without calling too much for help. Nelutu would often be seen around the villages on a horse and cart with his dad selling brooms. Self sufficiency to survive, that is how Nelutu and his large poor family existed, RIP Nelu.
These days at Love Light Romania there is a lot more self sufficiency, we started the second week of the summer holiday, Persida cleaning her room, Rodi busy with her daily program of sweeping and mopping, Moti with his weekly window clean, Imre attending to the yard and dogs. All of us making up a team, a family, that allows Love Light Romania to survive each day. Seeing Love Light Romania being productive, watching the transformations taking place amongst the Jacodu children, despite the sad times we experience it feels like there is always hope.
Below is the first in a series of montage films which will be published each week. It is hoped they will allow you to experience what life is like here at Love Light Romania. Every Monday there will be a new film located here.
